By using What the Google Font ("WTGF", "the site"), you agree to these terms.

1. What This Tool Does

WTGF is a free tool that helps you identify fonts from images and find similar fonts available on Google Fonts. Results are approximate matches based on visual analysis and are not guaranteed to be exact identifications.

2. Not Affiliated with Google

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC. "Google Fonts" and "Google" are trademarks of Google LLC. We provide links to Google Fonts as a convenience. All fonts available through Google Fonts are open source and licensed under their respective open-source licenses (typically the SIL Open Font License or Apache License 2.0).

3. Your Uploaded Images

You are responsible for the images you upload. Do not upload images that contain sensitive personal information, confidential data, or content you don't have the right to share.
Uploaded images are sent to third-party services (Anthropic, our font matching server) for processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Uploaded images and results are stored and may be accessible via shareable URLs. Do not upload images you want to keep private.
You retain ownership of your images. By uploading, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display them in connection with providing the service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the site to process illegal, harmful, or abusive content
Attempt to overload, disrupt, or interfere with the service
Scrape, crawl, or automate requests to the site or API beyond reasonable personal use
Circumvent any access controls or rate limits

5. Service Availability

WTGF is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the service will be available, accurate, or uninterrupted. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice.

6. Accuracy of Results

Font matching results are best-effort approximations. We do not guarantee that results will correctly identify any specific font. Always verify font licensing independently before using a font in your projects.

7. Membership, Usage & Fair Use

The site is free to use with ads, subject to usage limits. Non-members may run a limited number of free font searches; once that limit is reached, continued use requires membership. Paid members who subscribe through TaperCraft get unlimited use with ads removed.

"Unlimited" is subject to fair use: member accounts are limited to approximately 150 font searches per month. This cap keeps the service fast and affordable for everyone and helps prevent automated abuse. We may adjust these limits, or throttle or block usage that appears automated or excessive. Membership terms and billing are governed by TaperCraft's terms of service.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WTGF and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the service (which, for free users, is zero).

9. Intellectual Property

The WTGF name, logo, and website design are the property of Tex Jernigan. The font matching technology and codebase are proprietary. Google Fonts and their associated trademarks belong to their respective owners.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
